The mime, a master of silent expression, meticulously polished the driver's side mirror. Each wipe of his invisible cloth was a precise, balletic movement. His eyes, however, held a silent plea, a mimetic representation of a request for payment. The driver, seemingly understanding the unspoken transaction, wound down the window with a flourish. But instead of offering coins, the driver simply mirrored the mime's silent request with an equally silent, and equally empty, gesture. The mime, in turn, responded with a perfectly timed shrug, a silent acceptance of the silent refusal. The whole interaction was a perfectly choreographed dance of unspoken communication, a reflection of silence itself.
