The combination of nonstop high-speed driving, extreme heat cycles, brake wear, and potential collisions results in significant mechanical fatigue and body damage.

Some cars limp across the finish line with missing body panels, taped-up wings, or leaking fluids, having sacrificed reliability and aesthetics for endurance.

While some are rebuilt and preserved as historic artifacts, others are simply scrapped or stored unrepaired, serving as raw reminders of the brutal toll Le Mans takes on even the most advanced machines.
