I-joist 🤝 Steel Stud

Batts meant for steel studs work quite well for I-joists, allowing you to get a nice compression fit. Never would have thought about this without talking to our local @rockwoolna rep!

This is one of many examples in construction where a little bit of product knowledge and forethought can go a long way in a quality end result. R23 would have worked, but it would have to sit on the bottom I-joist flange. We wanted the batts against the floor platform where the main conditioned space is. The exception is duct branches, which we insulated beneath & around to keep those within the upstairs conditioned envelope (the garage is also conditioned, but separately).
