In the early 2000s, Kazuhiko "Smokey" Nagata took his

obsession with speed deep into Tokyo's expressway tunnels-this time in a 1,200hp Top Secret R32 GT-R. Fully street-registered and painted in Top Secret's signature gold, the car ripped through public roads at over 200 mph (322+ km/h) in one of the most notorious illegal runs in JDM lore.

But this wasn't his first time flirting with infamy. On November 4, 1998, Smokey took a 1,003hp Toyota Supra to the A1(M) motorway in the UK, aiming to crack 200 mph on public asphalt. In freezing rain, with a taped-up license plate and a boot full of tools, he topped out at 194 mph (312 km/h) before being pulled over. He was jailed overnight, fined, and banned from re-entering the UK for 10 years. That single rub, unofficially the fastest ever on a UK public road -turned him into a legend, and the grainy footage from that night became underground gospel for enthusiasts around the world.
