Audi's advanced Matrix LED headlight technology is a highly sophisticated lighting system that uses an array of individually controllable LEDs, each acting like a "pixel," to dynamically sculpt the beam of light in real time for optimal road illumination while preventing glare for oncoming traffic.

Unlike traditional headlights with fixed beams, this system can dim, deactivate, or target specific LEDs based on inputs from front-facing cameras and vehicle sensors, all managed by an onboard control unit.

This enables continuous high-beam use without dazzling other drivers.

Audi's Digital Matrix LED takes this a step further by employing digital micromirror device (DMD) technology, tiny mirrors (1-1.3 million per headlight) that tilt up to 5,000 times per second to project highly precise light patterns, effectively turning the beam into a dynamic video-like display.

This allows for innovative features like lane-oriented lighting that highlights only the vehicle's own lane with a "carpet of light" and predictive positioning arrows, dynamic turn-signal lane cues, and even road-surface projections such as hazard triangles.
