My experience with French or blind caning on a settee sofa armchair with natural rattan cane

My first experience with French caning (also known as Blind and Continental method) on an antique sofa or settee.
The video is for people who are familiar with the 7 step hand weaving pattern.
French caning is far more time-consuming than ordinary chair caning because the holes are not drilled all the way through the seat frame.
Having measured each strand, rattan strands are attached to the seat with a dot of glue in the hole. Pegs are used to secure the strands while waiting for the glue to cure.
This project took a while to complete because I had to learn as I went.
I couldn't find any videos online before taking on the settees. It made me pretty nervous beforehand.
I did have to restart a couple of times but it was all worth it at the end.
I loved this experience but I didn't love the pay :)
It was a last minute decision to make a video about the method because I realized I wanted to share this experience just in case someone is out there also looking for information on this method.
If you are not familiar with the 7 step seat weaving - check out the link below. I personally used this video to do my first seat 3 years ago.
Thank you for watching. And if this video helps a single bit to anyone - I will be thrilled.
