Here's Why the Honda L15 Turbo Engine is a FAILURE

The Honda L15 started life as an economy engine in the early 2000’s, used in the Honda Fit among others. With economic, environmental and governmental pressures mounting, Honda took its L15 engine and modified it for use with a turbo charger to power much larger vehicles, such as the CR-V, Accord and Civic.
This created many issues, the largest being oil dilution and headgasket failure due to coolant passages machined into the headgasket area on the engine block.
In this video, an L15BE engine from a 2018 Honda Accord with 121,000km is torn down to examine its components, how it works and what caused it to fail. Symptoms were no compression in cylinders 2 and 3, likely caused by the design flaw in the block to headgasket surface and stuck piston rings.
Since these vehicles are quite popular, the issue has proliferated across the Honda community without any solution. Enthusiasts remain disturbed at Honda’s limitation in design allowances for future upgrades, something that Honda engines have been known for in the past as they were typically strong and overbuilt.
