How to Grow CACTUS from cuttings and Care | Cloning Catus | Easily Root Cactus plant

This short video is about the cactus plant and how to clone it from cuttings. Cactus species are among the easiest plants that can be cloned from cuttings, even for first-time gardeners, and success rate is high at any time of year. Here we will first highlight in brief about some information about cactus before showing the actual process of growing from cuttings. There are more than thousand known species of cacti and they belong to the family Cactaceae. The meaning of cactus is derived from latin word Kaktos meaning spiny plant. That is the pricky structures of the cactus plants are called spines and the plant itself is a stem not leaf. These spines in cactus plants are actually modified leaves. As there are no leaves, stem is responsible for photosynthesis. Almost all cactus species are succulents – meaning these plants have thick fleshy parts with capacity to store water in them. There are many different species of cacti varying in shapes or designs and most are grown as ornamental plants in home gardens. The roots of cacti are spread out widely and only penetrate a short distance into the soil. Coming to Quick Care Tips before propagation of cactus: Growing Medium or Soil Requirement: generally a loose medium like pebbles, marble chips, perlite etc are recommended, but it can grow in any well draining soil medium too, including addition of compost to it. Watering requirement – nothing significant because it adapts to any type of watering conditions and depends on which species it belongs to.
