This is my DIY inset wood stove hearth project. I have two layers of 3/4 inch flooring, so I removed the top layer and laid 1/4 inch cement board and 1/2 inch real brick veneer. Using thin set mortar and grout, I inset the brick to make it level with the existing floor. My particular wood stove only requires ember protection, so 3/4 is more than sufficient. Check with your wood stove manufacturer and local building codes for your specific requirements. This video vlog is only intended for entertainment purposes.
