Buying tyres for your EV and specifically looking at the Tesla Model Y Hankook tyres

In this video I cover EV tyres. From buying replacements, repairs, brands and tyre shops knowledge. I use my Tesla Model Y as an example and as this is the world's best selling car, it's a good vehicle to use and should help a lot of people. In the UK, the Tesla Model Y comes fitted with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 EV T1 (K127E) tyres. The T1 means they are a Tesla specific tyre. You do not have to fit the same. One of the reasons why I made this video, is even if you do buy and fit the same, it may not be the same as the T1 tyre fitted from the factory as there are different versions. This Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 in the 255/45R19 comes in 6 different versions, with a noise rating range of 68-72dB. The T1 specific tyres even comes in 3 versions and one of those doesn't have the foam liner. So there's a high chance, you don't get the same tyre as fitted in the factory. Did you realise that sometimes the factory fitted tyres have less tread depth than aftermarket tyres, even when it's the same brand and model of tyre? So buying exactly the same tyres isn't always the best choice. Its all very confusing. Trying to buy the same Hankook Ventus S1 Evo EV tyre for the Model Y is a bit of a problem in the UK as stocks are scarce. This is what prompted me to make this video. With so many different versions of the same tyre, in the same size, you should be aware of what you're actually buying. Let's also address some of those tyre myths: Do you have to fit T1 Tesla specific tyres to your Tesla? No. Do you have to fit acoustic tyres to your EV? No. Can acoustic (foam lined) tyres be repaired? Yes. Does fitting a different tyre affect your warranty or insurance? No, as long as it's the correct size, speed and load rating.
