The end of the 1980s in the USSR. Moscow school graduate Ivan Miroshnikov fails his entrance college exams and start working as a courier in the editorial office of the Journal Questions of Cognition. Ivan gets acquainted with Professor Kuznetsov’s daughter Katya.

Young people belong to different social strata, but despite differences in upbringing, living standards, habits, and goals, they both always have at least one thing in common: the desire for self-expression. A sincere and somewhat sad existential comedy about a perestroika hero remains to this day one of the most popular films in Russia.
