Galle Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is Magnificent! Journey From Ella Sri Lanka to Galle Fort | 197 Countries, 3 Kids

Join us on tour around Galle in the island nation of Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰 Nestled on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, Galle is one of the country's biggest cities and a major tourist destination. Driving to Galle from Ella Sri Lanka was an adventure in itself. Some of the roads were in such poor condition that it took us almost 7 hours to drive 200km. However, the picturesque scenery, incredible nature, and beautiful weather compensated for the bumpy ride! Stopping at the epic Ravana Falls and Udawalawe National Park to see an elephant were major highlights along the way. We arrived at Galle Fort early in the evening and checked into Le Jardin du Fort Hotel with the coolest decorations ever. We couldn't wait to freshen up and go to dinner. The food choice was fantastic, and we enjoyed every bite. https://www.lejardindufort.com/ After a filling breakfast the next morning, we were ready to seize the day and explore Galle Fort. We strolled to the waterfront, checked out the beautiful white lighthouse, and shuffled through the local stores. If you are a fan of handmade souvenirs, clothes, jewellery, and accessories, Galle is your place! First built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and fortified by the Dutch in the 17th, the Galle Fort is a historical, archeological, and architectural monument where the Portuguese and Dutch Styles interweave with the native culture and tradition. It is also one of the eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. There were so many activities to choose from in Galle, from taking walks through the rainforest, to visiting the spice gardens, learning wood carving with local artisans and more. Sri Lanka doesn't have a completely dry season. It gets hot and humid quite fast, so the best time to go out and about would be the early morning or the evening when temperatures drop slightly. After lunch, we took a quick walk by the shore and tried homemade ice cream prepared by a local Sri Lankan family we befriended in town. As we mentioned, Sri Lanka gets quite the rainfall, and we had to walk back in the rain! Truth be told, it was quite enjoyable and playful. For dinner, we returned to our favorite restaurant and ordered some nice Sri Lankan curries and rice. We started Day 2 with a delicious breakfast and headed out again. We checked out the old city gates, but we couldn't figure out which one was the 'real one,' so if you know which gate came first, let us know in the comments below! From there, we took a tuk-tuk to a silk factory just 10 minutes outside Galle, where we learned how silk was made and visited their store with original silk products. We also browsed the racks of a local clothing store and found some pretty cute and affordable pieces. Back at the hotel, we had an amazing lunch. Food in Galle is truly finger-licking! In the evening, we visited the Jetwing Hotel. We were told that at sundown, it turned into one of the best spots in Galle to enjoy a beautiful sunset. On our last day in Galle, the girls started the day learning how to make French croissants… in Sri Lanka! Imagine! We hope you enjoy our video of the beautiful city of Galle.
