Australia is known as the country of bush fires. Some of the forest fires that occur, especially on the eastern seaboard, are among the worst seen globally. And the worst part? They're a relatively common occurrence.

But it hasn't always been like this. Australia has experienced periods of climatic swings since its inception, but the bush fires and grass fires that it experiences every summer, have a specific reason for existing to the prolific degree that they do. And it's related to the location of present day Australia.

In this video we'll take a look at the past 15 million years of Australia since bushfires began to dominate and change the landscape of Australia, morphing it, and the forests, from the ancient dinosaur age ones that once existed, into the fire tolerant ones that now exist.
