Ukrainians along the country's southern coast are bracing for battle, as Russian bombardments intensify and as they continue to indiscriminately kill civilians. Jeff Semple reports from Ukraine on the bombing of a Mariupol movie theatre that sheltered hundreds of people, the search for survivors, and what it could mean if Russia seizes the city of Odesa.

Despite signs of Russia stalling in its invasion, Ukraine's major cities are still being decimated. Crystal Goomansingh reports on the new round of attacks, the devastation, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's stern message to the German government.

Western rivals are also keeping an eye on Vladimir Putin as the Russian president talks about his desire for a "purge" of society. Crystal Goomansingh explains how NATO members are preparing if Russia escalates its assault of Ukraine, and how China could end up playing peacemaker.

Also, after being arrested in February over drug smuggling allegations, Russia is now extending the detention of U.S. basketball player Brittney Griner. As Mike Drolet reports, fears are growing Griner is caught in a political battle between Moscow and Washington.

And with millions of people escaping the war in Ukraine, some of them are headed to Canada, and they'll need a place to stay. As Jayme Doll explains, some Canadians are opening their homes to welcome in refugees.
