U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump praised billionaire Elon Musk in his victory speech in Palm Beach, Fla., on Wednesday morning, after claiming victory in the 2024 presidential election.

In his remarks, Trump spent several minutes complimenting the Tesla founder, saying that “a star is born: Elon.”

“He's a character, he’s a special guy. He's a super genius. We have to protect our geniuses. We don't have that many of them,” Trump added.

Trump has said he will appoint Musk to lead a government efficiency commission under his administration. Musk, the richest man in the world, is estimated to have pumped some $120 million into Trump's campaign.
