The history of automobiles is full of fascinating events and stories. One of them is the world's first car accident, which happened in #1891 in Ohio City, Ohio. The driver of the car was #John #William #Lambert, an engineer and inventor who created the first American gasoline-powered car. He was accompanied by #James #Swoveland, a friend and colleague. They were driving a #three-wheeled carriage with a single-cylinder engine that Lambert had designed and built himself. The car could reach a speed of about 10 miles per hour.

As they were driving along the road, they encountered a tree root that protruded from the ground. The car hit the root and lost its balance, veering off the road and crashing into a hitching post. The impact damaged the car beyond repair and injured both Lambert and Swoveland. They suffered cuts and bruises, but nothing serious. This was the first recorded instance of a car colliding with another object in the history of automobiles.
