This is Lesson 1 of my Learn How to Weld Series. (Using Stick Welding)

In this video we will learn how to strike an arc and start welding. The important points to know are the following:

1. There are 2 ways to start an ARC: Tapping -or- Scratching
2. Once the ARC has started, you would want to pause for about 1 second to build up the pool of molten steel.
3. Then you can slowly move your rod away slowly while KEEPING really close to the existing pool.
