This is a Motormouth Couple car review of the all-new 2021 Hyundai Elantra. The Hyundai Elantra just won the North American Car of the Year award, the second time this nameplate has won this prestigious award. It also won in 2012. This new Hyundai Elantra compact car is now longer, winder and just a slight bit lower, making a real statement on the road. The design is polarizing, with sharp angles, or what Hyundai calls Parametric design. The Hyundai Elantra is sold as a base manual transmission in the Canadian market but not offered in the United States. The rest of the Elantra compact sedan models get a new CVT or what Hyundai calls and Intelligent Continuously Variable Transmission. Power comes from a 2L 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine matched with 147 horsepower 132 lb-ft of torque and FWD. The interior has an impressive available 10.25-inch interment cluster and 10-.25-inch display audio system but this is only offered on the top trim as an additional package. All other trims get an 8-inch display audio system. Room inside the all-new Hyundai Elantra compact sedan is plenty, with good rear seat room and a large trunk. Unlike some rivals, the Elantra does not have independent rear suspension.
