Join us on an unexpected journey from chilly Montreal to the sun-kissed shores of the Dominican Republic! Our Caribbean adventure begins with a classic travel challenge - trying to find last-minute flights. After a night in Montreal and an unforgettable layover in Georgia (complete with a 5 AM encounter with a rather spirited hotel guest!), we finally touched down in paradise.

Our mission? To experience Punta Cana as locals do. From navigating local grocery stores to hunting down public beaches in a landscape dominated by private resorts, every day brought new discoveries. We found ourselves working remotely from our temporary home, venturing to local malls for data plans, and discovering hidden gem restaurants.

The beach hunt became our biggest adventure - in Punta Cana, finding public access to those crystal-clear waters isn't as straightforward as you might think! But persistence led us to a beautiful spot near Bavaro, complete with a charming local restaurant serving up refreshing drinks and authentic Dominican flavors.

As digital nomads, we're always planning our next move, and our evenings were filled with fascinating research about different ways to explore the Caribbean. Did you know you can actually travel by cargo ship? (not in the Caribbean but to other countries) We even discovered routes reaching as far as New Zealand! Between pool sessions at our home exchange and "sneaking" onto resort beaches, we're uncovering a side of Punta Cana that most visitors never see.
