AHA 22 - CardioNerds Fellow, Dr Saahil A Jumkhawala (Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, US) is joined by investigator, Dr Petr Ostadal (Na Homolce Hospital, Prague, CZ) to talk about the ECMO-CS trial.

In the ECMO-CS trial 122 patients with rapidly deteriorating or severe cardiogenic shock were randomized to receive veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or early conservative therapy according to standard practice. The trial showed that Immediate implementation of ECMO did not improve clinical outcomes in this patient population (NCT02301819).
