The Diamond Hand is a 1968 Soviet eccentric comedy film directed by Leonid Gaidai. The script was written by Maurice Slobodskoy, Yakov Kostyukovsky and Leonid Gaidai. The film is based on the story of how foreign smugglers mistook the Soviet tourist Semyon Semyonovich Gorbunkov for the carrier agent Gennady Kozodoev. The plot revolves around persistent but unsuccessful attempts by the attackers to recover the diamonds hidden in a plaster bandage. The image of the main character was created by the screenwriters, taking into account the acting skills of Yuri Nikulin, who got into the film crew without screen tests. The film also featured Andrei Mironov, Anatoly Papanov, Nonna Mordyukova, Svetlana Svetlichnaya, Stanislav Chekan, Vladimir Gulyaev, Nina Grebeshkova and other artists. Filming took place from April to November 1968 in Sochi, Adler, Tuapse, Gzhatsk, Pavlovskaya Sloboda, at outdoor facilities in Moscow and in the pavilions of Mosfilm. "Foreign Scenes" was filmed in Baku.
