Savannah Greywind was born on August 9, 1995, in Belcourt, North Dakota. Her mother is a member of the Turtle Mountain tribe, while her father is a member of the Spirit Lake tribe. Her family relocated to Fargo when she was a young child, but they later returned to the Spirit Lake reservation near Devil's Lake. After graduating from Warwick Public School on the reservation, Savannah attended Lake Region State College in Devil's Lake, where she obtained a certificate as a certified nursing assistant. Savannah also had a boyfriend named Ashton Matheny.
She first met him in middle school, but they had been dating for about seven years. He also goes to Spirit Lake. In 2016, Savannah moved to Fargo to work as a certified nursing assistant at Eventide Fargo senior living communities. There, their relationship flourished and things were going well. Later that year, they actually learned they were expecting a daughter, who would be born in late September 2017. Her boyfriend was based in Minneapolis.
