Wayne Lordan has had quite a journey in the racing game and has only relatively recently come back from eight months on the sidelines after suffering fractures to his legs and elbow - as well as a nasty laceration to his arm - after a bad fall in the 2023 Irish Derby.

He is now a Derby winner courtesy of Lambourn and, here, the rider speaks to Nick Luck on what the achievement means personally to him as well as the merit of his big-race winner.

Lordan also discusses Whirl, upon whom he was a narrow second in the Betfred Oaks just 24 hours before his crowning Derby success.
