One striking historical parallel is the Scythians’ response to Darius the Great in the 6th century BCE. Instead of sending a letter, they sent a box filled with arrows, a bird, a mouse, and a frog. Each object symbolized a warning: retreat, or we will attack from land, sky, and water. This method of conveying messages through the strategic arrangement of physical objects resembles Waffle House’s marking system.
