From May 21 to 22, 2017, former President Donald Trump stayed at the hotel, hosting the 2017 Riyadh Summit event. Former President Barack Obama stayed there in 2014. In October 2017, the hotel hosted the Future Investment Initiative with over 3,500 invited guests.

・Use as a prison
From November 4, 2017 to February 2018, the hotel was closed to the public and became a detention center for people detained as part of Saudi Arabia's 2017 anti-corruption arrests.
