Deep in the Peruvian Amazon, the Mashco Piro, an uncontacted indigenous group, stand at the edge of history. Surrounded by gold miners, missionaries, drug traffickers, and modernized villagers, their fate hangs in the balance.
A group of anthropologists fights to protect them from external forces seeking to exploit their land and culture. Meanwhile, the Mashco Piro themselves grapple with a growing curiosity about the outside world.
When violent encounters spark fear and demands for intervention, the tension reaches a breaking point. Filmmaker Carl Gierstorfer captures this high-stakes struggle, questioning whether contact is salvation—or destruction.
