Former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton, actors Michael J. Fox and Denzel Washington, as well as former NBA star Magic Johnson, were among U.S. President Joe Biden's final 18 selections for the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Saturday.

Recipients also included Jose Andres, Bono, Ashton Carter (posthumous); Tim Gill, Jane Goodall, Fanny Lou Hammer (posthumous), Robert Francis Kennedy (posthumous), Ralph Lauren, Lionel Messi, William Nye, George W. Romney (posthumous), David Rubenstein, George Soros, George Stevens Jr., and Anna Wintour.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honour alongside the Congressional Gold Medal.
