Homemade Mango Desserts 🥭 Making Lavaria, Coconut Roti & Mango Prawn Pickle with My Family

In today's video, join me as we dive into the juicy world of mangoes! My uncle's mango farm has been around for over four years, and despite the heavy rains this season, we still managed to gather some delicious fruits. Unfortunately, squirrels have tested most of the ripe mangoes before we could get to them. My love for the sweet taste of ripe mangoes and the tangy flavor of mango pickles wrapped in salt and chili is well-known in our family. My father, however, is the happiest when eating the juiciest mangoes that drip through his fingers. ➡️ One of our favorite homemade treats is lavaria, a special kind of pancake made with string hoppers. The process starts with soaking rice, pounding it manually, sifting it into fine flour, and then steam boiling. The most fascinating part is kneading the steamed flour with hot water and squeezing it onto string hopper plates. Traditionally, lavaria is filled with grated coconut sweetened with jaggery, but today, I have a special recipe for you! We’re using ripe mangoes to replace the jaggery, adding a pleasant yellow color to the filling. The taste is beyond expression – truly mouthwatering. The following morning, my father brought home a variety of fruits: green grapes, oranges, pomegranates, pineapples, and of course, mangoes. He suggested we make a fruit salad, and we worked together until the salad was ready. ➡️ This delicious fruit salad gave us a light lunch and a well-deserved afternoon break. However, tea time called for something more substantial. I decided to make coconut roti and a pickled mango with fresh prawns and green chilies from our garden. The freshly made roti with a topping of mango pickle was a hit, especially for my father, who couldn't resist the tempting flavors. Embrace nature and live a noble life.
