🦟Mystery black smoke plumes are mosquitoes mating? | Journey to the wild #shorts

Recently, mysterious black smoke-like columns appeared around West Lake in Hangzhou, east China. Experts clarified that these are midge swarms, a phenomenon that occurs during the mating season of midges.
But don't worry! The midges you see swirling around your head at dusk aren’t harmful to humans. They don’t bite or spread diseases; they’re just a bit annoying.
However, if large numbers of dead midges dry up, they could potentially be inhaled and cause allergic reactions.
The lifespan of these midges is only 1–2 weeks, and their peak season lasts just 1–2 months. After that, they mostly disappear.
