Today we will talk on the Wandering Jew plant also called Inch-Plant and how to care and grow wandering jew plant. Today will look into Its care tips and propagation.

Wandering Jew with botanical name Tradescantia zebrina is a commonly grown ornamental houseplant found worldwide. Its called zebrina because of its attractive zebra-patterned leaves.
The upper surface of leaves showing purple new growth and green older growth parallel to the central axis, as well as two broad silver-colored stripes on the outer edges, with the lower leaf surface presenting a deep uniform magenta.
It’s a commonly grown in hanging pots and also as groundcover. It’s a very fast growing and an invasive plant because it regenerates easily and spreads very fast. That is why its called as Wandering jew or inch plant.
Quick Care Tips on Wandering Jew Plant: It’s again another zero maintenance plant and many of us might already know how easy it is to grow this plant.
1. Light: It prefers bright indirect sunlight for best growth and foliage colors. If you keep in direct sunlight the purplish color fades.
2. Watering: They love to be kept moist all the time and daily watering is recommended for best results.
3. Soil: they grow in any soil and the regular well draining garden soil is recommended for faster growth. Adding some compost monthly like some decomposed cowdung will boost the growth. You can also use NPK fertilizer crystals once a month.
4. Pruning is must and here we will simultaneously talk on the propagation of wandering jew. Regular pinching off and the tips is required as a pruning step. It can be easily propagated from cuttings near joints or nodes and just insert them into the soil and it develops fast rooting and the results are almost 100%. Its such an easy to propagate plant. NO need of any rooting hormone or no need to even strip the leaves.
Lastly bonus tips for you to try at home. You can even grow this plant in water like moneyplant. Make sure you change water weekly to prevent root or stem rot. Also another reason for rot is over watering specially when you water the plant donot pour directly on the plant or leaves, but pour water on the soil.
