Sam Laidlow caused a stir after receiving a Captains' Pick at the Collins Cup, taking on triathlon giants Lionel Sanders and Sam Long in a war of words ahead of their match up.

The approach backfired, however, as he finished almost half an hour behind his opponents who delivered the most exciting finish of any match up in Slovakia.

Dallas offers Laidlow a chance for redemption, having proved his ability to mix it with the best at the PTO Tour opener in Canada earlier this year.
