In this video I test the efficiency of my 9 year old Tesla Model S 85kWh RWD over two 200 mile trips, driving on UK motorways. This 2014 Tesla is as old as Teslas get in the UK and it's now done 118,000 miles. The original single motor, rear wheel drive Model S aren't very efficient by modern Tesla standards. The later dual motor versions are far better in terms of driving economy. That is, they drive further (i.e. do more miles) per kWh of electricity.
The Tesla Model S measures the efficiency in Wh/mi (watt hours per mile). This metric is pretty unique to Tesla and most other EVs use mpkWh (miles per kilo watt hour). Because of this and the fact that the range of the car is more than enough for my daily needs, I've ignored the efficiency of the Model S. It was only until I recorded a recent video, I was surprised how thirsty this has been when I checked the trips.
