This is steam bending, a technique of bending wood using hot steam generated in a steam room or steam box. The heat and moisture from this steam soften the wood fibers, making them more pliable without cracking or breaking the wood. Once the wood is soft enough, it is bent with molds and held in place with clamps to hold its shape. This process is allowed to continue until the wood cools and dries, making the curves permanent.
