After recon reported a 135 mph flight-level wind, Hurricane Helene intensified into a Category 4 storm at 6:20 p.m. EDT on September 26, 2024, with maximum sustained wind of 130 mph sustained winds and could still intensify a bit more, according to AccuWeather meteorologists.
