Welcome back Friends, Whether you have a small garden with one or two plants or a large garden with many plants, it certainly benefits the environment and the living creatures on this planet in many ways. Not only are plants lovely to look at, they also play a very vital role in keeping the natural world healthy. Here are five ways your gardening hobby can benefit the environment and humanity :
1. Plants reduce pollution by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and giving off oxygen for us to breathe – this is exactly what we need to survive! This process is called photosynthesis.
2. Plants help remove chemicals and bacteria from water in the ground. The hazardous chemicals are removed by the microorganisms living in association with plant roots. They metabolize these substances in soil or water and thus purify the underground water naturally.
3. For wildlife, plants can be both their food source as well as their home! Food source for herbivorous animals and shelter to animals and birds. They also help bring rainfall and prevent soil erosions and other disasters.
4. The Trees and plants absorb sound and help reduce noise pollutions. For people who live nearer to the main roads or near railways, planting trees can prevent some of the noise from roads and trains disturbing homes.
5. If your garden has edible plants that you can eat, it means that you don’t have to shop at the supermarket as much! And most importantly you are getting fresh fruits and vegetables from your garden.
