PHNOM PENH CAMBODIA 🇰🇭 Where to Stay, Cambodian Food & Mekong River | 197 Countries, 3 Kids
Join us on an adventure around Phnom Penh - the capital of Cambodia. Our journey started with a 5-hour shuttle from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. It was an eventful ride, to say the least, but we made it through to the capital. The minibus dropped us in the city center where we jumped on a tuk-tuk that took us to the Almond Hotel Bassac River where we were going to spend the next few nights. https://growingupwithoutborders.com/almond-hotel-bassac-river Arriving at the Almond, the first thing we noticed was the Sevensea Seafood Restaurant, run by Master Chef Luu Meng. https://restaurant-sevensea.business.site/ We stopped for a glass of freshly squeezed juice and then checked into our two spacious rooms with gorgeous views of the city.. The next morning, we had a filling breakfast to set us up for the day, and then it was laundry time! Laundry seems to always be an adventure with us :-). The first place we found wasn’t gonna cut it because they were drying fish and clothes on the same racks! Finally, we found a good laundry service and we were ready to start exploring Phnom Penh. But first, we grabbed some much-needed bubble tea and iced coffee because it was ultra hot. In fact, we were pretty much the only people in the streets of Phnom Penh. First we checked out the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument and walked by the Royal Palace of Cambodia. Next we visited the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers. Here we learned that the floating villages in Siam Reap (which we had just visited) were created thanks to the high water in these two rivers. Crazy right? Eventually, we ended up at Phnom Penh’s central market and got lost among the hundreds of stalls seeping with clothes, shoes, accessories, and all kinds of gizmos you could think of. The night was truly exciting for us because we were invited to a 4-course traditional Cambodian dinner at the KROEUNG Restaurant, run by Master Chef Luu Meng! Needless to say, the food was beyond delicious, and we were absolutely honoured to be treated this way.
