This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2022 Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV. What’s new? This updated 2022 Chevrolet Equinox gets an updated front end with a new grille, headlights, front and rear bumpers and a new RS model. It has a sportier style with black 19” wheels, black exterior accents and black upholstery with red stitching. The top Premier trim has body colour door handles with chrome surround and two interior colour combinations including, jet black perforated leather and jet black with Maple Sugar. The Chevy Equinox comes with a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission, 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. FWD and AWD options are available. We are driving the LT AWD model in Blue Glow Metallic with a jet black cloth interior. It comes standard with a 7” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a manual driver and passenger seat, power liftgate, heated steering wheel, LED headlights and 17” wheels. Our test model has a few extras like 18” wheels and the True North Edition package for over $3,700 CAD which includes, a panoramic sunroof, 8” touchscreen with navigation, front and rear park assist and blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert. Price as tested, $36,643 CAD. This Chevy Equinox gets a great quality and reliability score from JD Power of 81/100. The Chevrolet Equinox is a spacious compact SUV with plenty of front legroom but competitors like the Tucson, Forester, RAV4 and Rogue all offer more front row space. The second row seats do not recline or side, but are very comfortable but one area the Equinox falls short is in cargo capacity behind the second row and overall cargo space; it is one of the smallest in this class.
