It doesn’t take much - this young Cape fur seal pup is tangled in a loop of discarded fishing line, likely weighing less than 10 grams. We rescue seals like this every day, but the problem is only getting worse. How much discarded fishing line is out there? How many animals suffer and die in silence from something so small and seemingly insignificant? Unless we change our relationship with ocean waste, we’re headed for a world where marine life chokes quietly beneath the surface. We need to push for prevention, not just clean-up.
