Golden Visas, Digital Nomad Visas, passport by ancestry, economic citizenship… you’ve probably heard all of these terms and more, but you think, what do they all mean, and do any make sense for me?

Second citizenship provides many benefits and opens many doors, giving you the freedom to travel, work in multiple countries, and buy property in multiple countries. But how do you get one, and how do you choose the country you should apply to for one?

Recently Henley and Partners, a big international wealth consultancy, released its annual list of “the world’s best passports.”

IL’s Chief Global Diversification Expert, Ted Baumann, gives us his take on these lists and tells us why he doesn’t like them.

Japan is the number 1 passport on the Henley list, but how likely are you to get a Japanese passport? It’s extremely hard to do. So, just because a country is high on a list doesn’t mean it’s a good option for you.

There are a few different decision-making styles when it comes to second passports. Ted has some practical advice on how he would go about getting a second citizenship.
