Iron Butterfly – Legend of Psychedelic Rock
Iron Butterfly is an American rock band formed in San Diego in 1966. They are best known for their hit In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968), which was a defining moment in the development of hard rock and heavy metal.
Genre: psychedelic rock, hard rock, progressive rock.
Active periods: 1966–1971, 1974–1985, 1987–2012, 2015–2021.
Most successful album: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968), which went platinum and sold over 30 million copies.
Lineup: The band has gone through many lineup changes, but the most classic lineup included Doug Ingle (keyboards, vocals), Ron Bush (drums), Lee Dorman (bass) and Eric Brann (guitar).
Woodstock 1969: The band was unable to perform due to transportation problems.
GGAfter the death of Ron Bush (2021), Iron Butterfly ceased activities. In 2024, the last member of the classic lineup, Doug Ingle, died.
The group left a significant mark on rock music, becoming a symbol of the psychedelic rock era.
