PART 1 :
PART 2 :
(part 1)
A: Brian?
B: Hey , how’s it going?
A: Whoa, did you get a tan?
B: Oh, yeah. It’s noticeable, huh?
A: I thought you were some guy in a Bigfoot suit.
B: Yeah, I know. I think I may have gone a little overboard. I just got back from my trip.
A: Oh, that’s right. I thought you were still on leave.
B: I am. I’m just stopping by to pick up a few things.
A: Oh, OK. So how was your trip to …
B: Australia.
A: right. How was it? It must’ve been fun.
B: It was all right.
A: Weren’t you supposed to be there for a couple of weeks?
B: Yeah. That was the plan, but I decided to cut it short.
A: Don’t tell me you and Stacey had a fight.
B: No. I actually went on the trip alone.
A: Really? How come?
B: She couldn’t get out of work.
A: What? All of a sudden?
B: Yeah. Something really important came up.
A: Damn. That’s sucks. So, you went alone?
B: It was her idea actually.
A: Really?
B: Yeah, I wanted to reschedule and it wasn’t too late to cancel, but she insisted that I go.
A: That’s very cool of her.
(part 2)
A: Hey, honey.
B: Oh, you’re early. Actually, you’re just in time. You won’t believe what I found… Is everything okay?
A: Yeah. Well, no. That’s kind of why I’m here.
B: Uhh..OK. Well, come in. We can talk about it over dinner. Is it work stuff? I was thinking of ordering Chinese. What do you say?
A: Babe?
B: Yeah.
A: I actually have to go back.
B: To work?
A: (nods)
B: But you just got here.
A: I was going to call, but I didn’t want to tell you over the phone.
B: All right. You’re kind of freaking me out. What is it?
A: I think we’re going to have to cancel the trip.
B: Oh..
A: We lost of our our main investors.
B: For Voxa?
A: Yeah. It’s a long story. Anyway, now Kramer is scrambling to lock in new funding and he wants the full demo ready in two weeks.
B: We’re supposed to leave next week.
A: I know. I’m so sorry, babe. But, you know how it is with these startups.
B: Well, all right. Okay. Maybe we should consider ourselves lucky – I think we can still avoid most of the cancellation fees.
A: You know what? I’ve been thinking about it and I think you should go.
B: What? Why would I go without you?
A: I know you’ve been really looking forward to this trip.
(I know how much you’ve been looking forward to this trip.)
B: No. It’s not a problem! We’ll just wait until after your product launch.
A: Look, I’m hardly going to be home for the next couple of weeks and it would just make me feel a lot better knowing that you’re sunbathing on some beach.
B: What are you talking about?!
I don’t care if you’re only home for a few hours every other day. I’m going to be right here.
A: that’s really sweet. But please? For me?
(part 3)
A: Nice day for a tan.
B: Yeah. I guess I should’ve brought more sunscreen.
A: You can use mine if you don’t mind the flowery scent.
B: Thanks but I’m good.
A: You sure? I’ve seen people hurt themselves out here.
B: I’ll be careful. Thanks anyway. ( Appreciate it though )
A: Suit yourself. (Open offer)
Are you here alone?
B: Pretty much. You?
A: It’s just me, for now. Is this your first time in Australia?
B: That obvious, huh?
A: I’m out here a lot.
(I come out here a lot)
I’ve gotten quite good at spotting tourists.
B: Well technically, it’s my second time. I was here once with my parents + when I was 6 or 7. But I don’t remember much. So, this feels like my first time.
A: Do you travel alone a lot?
(Do you travel a lot alone?)
B: No. I was actually supposed to be here with my wife.
A: Oh, where is she?
B: Back home. Working. We had the whole trip planned (out). But then, something really important came up.
A: Oh, what a shame. I probably would’ve just quit.
B: I probably would’ve too. But not Stacey – She loves her job.
A: Good for her. So, you just came alone?
( 그래서 그냥 혼자 오기로 한 거예요? )
So, you just decided to come alone?
B: Yeah, but it was her idea. I wanted to postpone it, but she insisted that I come alone.
A: Oh, so sorry to hear that.
B: It’s OK. Look. I’m here on this beautiful beach.
A: I meant that I’m sorry to hear that you’re married.
B: ...
