Discover one of Switzerland's 🇨🇭 best-kept secrets: massive underground military tunnels and fortresses deep within the Swiss Alps. These aren’t just tunnels – they’re sprawling complexes with kitchens, hospitals, operating rooms, and armories, designed for defense during wartime. Visiting these incredible structures was mind-blowing, and "huge" doesn’t even begin to describe it!

This adventure took us to the Fort de Chillon in Montreux, Switzerland, right across from the famous Chateau de Chillon. Swiss neutrality is legendary, meaning Switzerland has long maintained a position of non-alignment in conflicts. Yet, the country’s dedication to defense is evident in these impressive fortifications, originally designed to protect in case of invasion.

Our trip to Fort de Chillon was like stepping back in time to witness Switzerland's unique military preparations. Each area of the fortress told a story, from the underground kitchens to the medical facilities and sleeping quarters.
