Welcome back to Part 3 on diamonds. Lab-Grown diamonds are really the same as a natural diamond. If you use a diamond tester it would tell you the same as well. If you give it to a jeweler, they won’t be able to tell the difference either, unless they look for the serial numbers that the lab etched on the diamond. As I said you would need much more expensive equipment to check if the diamond is mined or synthetic. Again quick disclaimer, I have no idea what is going to happen in the market for all these diamonds. Now I can’t talk about diamonds without mentioning the company De Beers, they currently control around 30% of the diamond distribution market but for over a 100 years before the 21th century they controlled 80% or even more of the market. For a period of time demand for diamonds were decreasing and De Beers hired a marketing company which ran one of the most successful marketing campaigns in the world. They were able to create a relationship between diamonds and love, which was practically non-existent in Europe and a lot of other places.
